Deutsche Appoints Former Barclays Compliance Chief to Manage Surplus Cash

2 September 2019: Deutsche Bank has appointed Francois Jourdain, a former chief compliance officer from Barclays, as head of its Treasury markets and investments. The recruitment move comes as part of the German bank’s restructuring.
Jourdain will be responsible for managing Deutsche’s surplus cash, potentially by retiring old liabilities and investing in higher-yielding assets. Deutsche has €259bn in liquidity reserves currently.
