The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has unveiled plans to restructure part of its organisation. The move will see around 150 of its current workforce divided into two separate units: Supervision System and Analytical Support (SSAS) and Systemic Risk Identification Support and Speciality Supervision (SRIS).

The SSAS unit will comprise supervisory systems teams, business intelligence, supervision risk, risk analysis as well as data management, amongst other things. The SRIS unit will join lead experts from Large and Midsize Bank Supervision teams to supervise trust companies from the Northeastern District National Trust Banks team.

Commenting on the changes, Comptroller of the Currency, Joseph Otting, said, “this realignment will improve the agency’s ability to supervise the federal banking system by aligning like work, eliminating redundancies, and ensuring the OCC presents a single voice to supervised institutions.”
